New-build ferries for Mull – first meetings planned by CMAL ***UPDATED***

Due to the weather forecast, the Tuesday meeting on Iona is now cancelled. Now replaced with events on Thursday in both Iona and Fionnphort.

Between the 8th and 11th December next week, CMAL will be holding public drop-in sessions in Tobermory, Iona, Craignure and Oban. This is the first public step in the process of replacing our ferries on the Craignure-Oban route with entirely new vessels. Below is the poster from CMAL.

We have held off from publicizing these events for a few days, whilst we sought assurances from CMAL that these events are formal consultation and intended to be compliant with the Islands Act and the Gunning Principles. Initially described as engagement events, those familiar with the arguments around the new Mull Campus will understand why we thought it was important to get these assurances, which we now have.

The event details are:

  • Tobermory Scout Hall, Monday December 8th 15:30 – 17:30
  • Iona Village Hall, Tuesday December 9th 15:30 – 17:30
  • Creich Hall, Fionnphort. Tuesday December 9th 16:00 – 18:00
  • Craignure Village Hall, Wednesday December 10th 16:00 – 19:00
  • Creich Hall, Fionnphort, Thursday Dcember 11th 11:45 – 13:45
  • Iona Village Hall, Thursday December 11th 15:45 – 17:15
  • Oban Ferry Terminal, Thursday December 11th 15:00 – 18:00
