#stopislandparkingtax

A Scottish Parliament Petition has opened today, calling for charging in car parks at lifeline ferry ports to be outlawed.

The petition has been lodged in the name of five Mull & Iona community organisations – Mull Community Council, Iona Community Council, Mull & Iona Ferry Committee, Mull & Iona Community Trust and Tobermory Harbour Association.

The petition can be found here: http://www.parliament.scot/GettingInvolved/Petitions/freeparkingatlifelineferryports

PLEASE SIGN AND SHARE! This petition has been made necessary by Argyll & Bute Council’s plans to enforce punitive, unfair and illogical parking charges in Mull’s car parks, including those at Craignure and Fionnphort. All of the local groups above have been campaigning hard to have the proposed charges cancelled.

A final decision on the charging proposals will be taken at the Council’s Area Committee meeting on June 12th in the Corran Halls. It’s open to the public, and we would urge as many people as possible to attend!

In the meantime, PLEASE SIGN THE PETITION so that charges can NEVER be proposed again! (And share that hashtag too!! #stopislandparkingtax !!)

  1. Also problematic since most electric car chargers are in these public car parks!

    1. Thankfully, the EV charging points are exempt from parking charges, although I had to appeal against the ticket I received when I tried it!!
