It’s the time of year when CalMac ask for timetable amendments for next summer.
Below are last year’s timetables for reference. Please be aware that opportunities for significant change are few. The current Craignure – Oban timetable is a complex compromise of competing needs that tries to maintain pubic transport connections as best as possible; provide capacity at the peak times; give as many travel options as possible; maintain key connections to and from Iona and a host of other minor considerations … all within the constraints of berth availability, working time limits, vessel operating speeds, minimum turnaround times and vessel clashes in Oban bay. So significant change is not going to be possible… but if you have a minor request for (say) a sailing to adjust arrival / departure time a little, we need you to detail your suggestion and explain fully what the benefit is.
There is more flexibility on the Lochaline – Fishnish route, so any change requests there may be more easily accommodated.
If you have suggestions for either Craignure – Oban or Lochaline – Fishnish please email Joe Reade.
For requests regarding Fionnphort – Iona, please email FInlay MacDonald.
APOLOGIES FOR THE SHORT NOTICE, BUT YOU MUST EMAIL ANY REQUESTS BY 5PM ON THURSDAY NOVEMBER 13th
Last year our main request was to provide more sailings on the Oban – Craignure route on Sunday mornings, because demand is high and with some organisational changes we think additional sailings could be operated. We will be making that request again.
Next year may be the last for the MV Isle of Mull. What comes after her (until new builds arrive) is uncertain, but we are asking that it be the Hebrides, once she is released by the arrival of new vessels to services from Uig.
Reminder – MIFC is holding its AGM on Wednesday November 26th at 7pm in An Roth, Craignure. If you have an interest in joining the committee, email us.
Here are those timetables:
