We don’t normally try to relay service-status notices via our website, because it would be a full-time job. However, below is the text of an email received this morning outlining what is being done today to mitigate for the breakdown of the Loch Frisa. We have written to all of CalMac’s senior management this morning, urging action of some kind – be it re-deployment of another vessel, delay to dry-docking, double-crewing of the Lochaline service, adding a minor vessel to the Oban – Craignure service, chartering something … anything.
Just a quick update on today’s plan. The MV Isle of Mull will take traffic from Oban to Craignure when it goes to Castlebay this afternoon. The Clansman will call in at Craignure on its return to Oban from Tiree this afternoon and will then do an Oban – Craignure round trip this evening.
The Clansman is also scheduled to undertake two morning Oban – Craignure round trips and two afternoon round trips each week until the Isle of Arran is scheduled to pick up services in December.
We are currently awaiting engineer’s attendance to assess the Frisa and will update as soon as possible.

I need to get off Mull on Sunday to catch international flight Monday afternoon. So I have booked 13.50 afternoon boat Sunday and hotel in Glasgow. Do I change plans and go for 10.25 from Fishnish on Sunday (rather than next scheduled 16.25 from Fishnish to avoid driving in the dark….)
