  1. If Calmac go ahead with the IOM redeployment, will islanders be given priority if their booked sailings are cancelled? We will be on holiday for 2 weeks and are booked on the Oban route to cone home during the disruption. The last thing we want after a long and arduous journey home is to find that we can’t get a ferry..or have an even longer drive to Lochaline. There has been no discussion generally on islander prioritisation this year. What progress has Calmac made in reaching a solution to this problem?

    1. For people who already have bookings, there is no distinction made between local/visitor if that booking has to be moved. I *think* that they work through bookings in the order in which they were received.
On the topic of islander priority generally, the pilot scheme is running (whereby 10% of spaces are not available for sale until 24 hours before sailing time). During periods of disruption however, the pilot gets suspended. We have asked for clarification on whether it will be suspended in this instance or not.
Until a decision is made on the potential re-deployment however, you will just have to wait…

  2. I do not usually reply or comment on these posts but today, my first thought was would we, the residents and visitors to Mull be listened to, let alone thought of, in these decisions. I fully agree with the committees’ response to the latest plans for the MV Isle of Mull but, despite the information gathered, I will be amazed if it changes anything!! Mind you, if you do not ask you will not receive!!
