In preparation for the introduction of CalMac’s new ticketing system, from early on Saturday to early on Tuesday, you will be unable to buy any new tickets or make any amendments, either by phone, online or in ports. See the full text from CalMac below.
At the time of writing we also don’t have any news on potential mitigations for the removal of the Isle of Mull from Friday 12th for two weeks. Currently almost all sailings for the period are showing no availability for both vehicles AND foot passengers. We understand that CalMac are working through the process of moving existing bookings, and hopefully some sailings will become available in the coming days. The only way to know is to keep checking the CalMac website.
Here’s the CalMac message:
As part of our transition to our new ticketing and booking platform on 16 May 2023 – our systems will undergo a period of scheduled maintenance from 04:00am on Saturday 13 May until 05:00am on Tuesday 16 May.
Bookings, amends and cancellations will be unavailable online or via our ports and contact centre during this period. Our online contact and request forms will also be unavailable from 11 – 16 May. We’ve shared more detail on our website here.
Please be assured that during this time, our services will be unaffected. Travel on our Turn up and Go routes will still be available. Customers should proceed to their port as normal.
For bookable routes, existing bookings are currently being managed by our Port & Contact Centre teams who will be in touch with those customers who are affected with the latest deployment changes. For customers who have not been contacted by any of our team we ask for them to proceed to their Port as normal.
For new bookings on bookable routes during this period (04:00am Saturday 13th May until 05:00am Tuesday 16th May) these will be operated on a Turn up and Go basis and any available capacity will be advised in person at the port prior to sailing.
Also, our Urgent Medical Protocol will still apply during the downtime. Any customers requiring urgent travel at the last minute can contact their local port staff who can help them to travel.
If customers want to make an advance booking for travel on or after Tuesday 16 May, we are asking them to please wait for the introduction of the new booking system on Tuesday 16 May.
I am sorry if this will cause you any inconvenience, but it is necessary so that we can migrate to the new system. Thank you for your patience and understanding.
