Interested in what catamarans could do for Hebridean ferry services? This seminar is essential viewing.

On Thursday 12th May, The University of Strathclyde’s Maritime Safety Research Centre are hosting a seminar entitled “Catamarans for Inter-Island Ferry Service: An Untapped Resource”.

Stuart Ballantyne of Sea Transport Solutions* will be presenting the latest iteration of his medium-speed catamaran designs. Most well known in Scotland for the MV Pentalina operating across the Pentland Firth, STS designs are in operation around the world servicing island routes much like those in the Hebrides.

He will be accompanied by Strathclyde University’s Professor of Naval Architecture Dracos Vassalos, and Alf Baird, ex-professor of Maritime Business at Edinburgh Napier.

The event is being streamed online. To register for viewing (or attendance in person) , follow this link.
