The ferry that CMAL designed to fail.

This is the second part of our critique of CMAL’s assessment of ferry options now ordered for Islay. Included in that options appraisal was a catamaran design specially commissioned by CMAL. It appears to have been deliberately designed to fail. It is a catamaran ferry design unlike any other, seemingly engineered with only one objective – to maintain the long-held determination that efficient, productive and value-for-money catamarans will not enter the CMAL major vessel fleet.

  1. Thank you for this detailed analysis. I fear the problem is political. The Scottish Government can do nothing right, but they don’t want the voters to discover this.
