This is the second part of our critique of CMAL’s assessment of ferry options now ordered for Islay. Included in that options appraisal was a catamaran design specially commissioned by CMAL. It appears to have been deliberately designed to fail. It is a catamaran ferry design unlike any other, seemingly engineered with only one objective – to maintain the long-held determination that efficient, productive and value-for-money catamarans will not enter the CMAL major vessel fleet.

Thank you for this detailed analysis. I fear the problem is political. The Scottish Government can do nothing right, but they don’t want the voters to discover this.
