Emergency timetable and ferry use rules.

Things remain steady on the ferries – still very very low numbers going back and forth to Mull. On pretty much every sailing, crew outnumber passengers 2:1.

CalMac have extended the emergency timetables again – it is now in place until at least May 31st, and the expectation is that it will continue for quite some time after that. It will be guided by government and their judgement on when and how restrictions begin to be eased.

Several people have contacted us, unsure of what the rules are regarding ferry travel, and in particular what is valid ‘essential travel’ right now. CalMac have a very clear Q&A section on their website that addresses all the key questions. So if you are considering whether your journey is ‘essential’ or not, the place for an authoritative answer is here: https://www.calmac.co.uk/covid19/faqs
